To start exploring Treignac, head to the banks of the Vézère, where you will find a beautiful view of the old 13th-century bridge, the Gothic Church of Our Lady of the Bans and the houses in the lower town! Your tour of this charming spot in Corrèze then continues in the upper town.
Take the time to enjoy a walk along its narrow streets to discover old houses with turrets and beautiful monuments like the medieval grain hall, the 13th-century Chabirande gate, the 17th-century Chapel of the Penitents of the Chapel of Our Lady of Peace and its elegant twisted bell tower.
Be sure to go up to the top of the old belvedere tower, where you'll have a superb view over the slate roofs of the town.
Treignac, built at the foot of the Monédières, in the Vézère gorges, is a medieval town with its 13th-century bridge, its church and chapels, its grain hall, its 15th-century panoramic tower and half-timbered houses. It has been labelled as one of the Small Cities of Character for its architectural and natural heritage.
It was a great recognition of the town’s unusual heritage. The twisted bell tower of the Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Chapel, situated in the centre of Treignac metres from the apartment, is an illustrious example. Treignac is a popular stopover for pilgrims to Compostela on the Rocamadour Way and is also famous for its waters which make it a recognised spot in the world of canoeing. We hope you enjoy your time staying at Treignac, rich in heritage and nature.
